02 Sep Foster a Plant

The Foster Care Association of Victoria has launched a campaign calling on the public to ‘foster a plant’ over the month of September. To get involved all you need to do is purchase a plant, or even utilise one you already have to take up a prime position at your place. The plant then forms a centrepiece for a morning tea, barbeque lunch or dinner with friends, family or colleagues where each guest is asked to contribute a small donation. The plant also acts as a metaphor to talk about foster care and its challenges.

Just like plants, children need nurturing in order to thrive and flourish; and in particular, foster children need special care and attention because of the hardships they have experienced, and because they have been displaced from their family.

The Foster a Plant campaign aims to raise over $10,000 assist in supporting foster care families across Victoria. To find out more visit their site: www.fcav.org.au
