09 Apr Daniel Morcombe Rose Release
A new commemorative rose aimed at raising funds for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation has been released today called the Daniel Morcombe Rose.
Daniel Knight of Knight’s Roses unveiled the new rose to Daniel’s parents Bruce and Denise Morcombe at a special breakfast function held with their nursery located in South Australia.
Part proceeds from the sale of the rose will assist the Daniel Morcombe Foundation in educating children in how to stay safe within the physical and online environment and will also support young victims of crime.
“The Daniel Morcombe Foundation is making a measurable difference, with all funds raised channeled into free safety programs available across Australia,” Mr Morcombe said.
The rose itself is a velvety-red, lightly scented Hybrid Tea bred for longevity with cut blooms lasting over a week in a vase. The bush can grow up to 2m in height and features reasonable disease resistance, performing well in a hot climate, consistent with the Morcombe’s home state of Queensland.
The rose can be purchased on-line through Knight’s Roses website www.knightsroses.com.au and garden centres from late autumn.
